Day 14
Well this is my last post from San Miguel. We did it. Fourteen days a new play and endless memories and adventure. I am so happy that all of you were able to share in this experience. So Here we go the last day. So yesterday I went for a four wheeler tour. It was insanely fun. Roaming all over the back roads of San Miguel and getting out of the city was an amazing experience. The church that is depicted is the very first church that was set up in San Miguel. Now it sits out pretty much in the middle of a corn field. The lake that you see is huge. We drove all around it. If you look at some previous pictures from our roof top you can see it out in the distance. I also got a little more burned as well on this trip but i think that it was worth it. I know that I still have to post the interior pictures of the princiapl parish as well.
San Miguel is an amazing town and it is very hard to leave such a beautiful place. One thing is for certain though. I know that I am going to come back to this magical place. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read and share this experience with me. I will still be posting a couple of more blogs so don't check out on me just yet! Until then.

Day 13
Well my trip here is starting to wind it's way down and although I am a little sad I am starting to miss New York as well. It has been quite the amazing run. Clayton left yesterday so I have been myself for these last two days. Yesterday was a good day in the sense that I got some much needed rest. I pretty much just lounged around the house and got caught up on some things. Last night I met up with my San Miguel friends and we went out to celebrate. I also had another delicious pizza. Today I am going ton a 4 wheeler tour so look for that tomorrow. For now I am soaking up the last moments that I have here and trying to make the best of my time. I have met some really great people here that I am going to miss very much. For now though a new adventure awaits and I am heading out to meet it.

Day 12
What an amazing day Day 12 was. It was Clayton's last full day and night here in San Miguel so we decided that we needed to do a little shopping and then we rented scooters! I have never really driven a scooter which didn't seem to concern the guys who rented them to us. A helmet and how to use the blinker and we were on our way. Now as you already know these streets here not the easiest thing in the world to traverse. Potholes await you at every turn and the sheer degree of some of this hills is just down right insane. That said, it was maybe one of the best decisions that we have made. Being able to zip around town at your leisure is an amazing experience. The only three problems we encountered were 1. We got lost constantly. 2. I was almost killed when a car passed me and came so close that I thought for sure I was dead. 3. Clayton dumped is bike 2 minutes before we were supposed to return them, but he was fine. It was pretty amazing to see all of the views of San Miguel with such a different perspective. I also got an insane amount of sun so I am a little burned today. After we got back we were both pretty wiped. It had that same feeling of mowing the lawn all day. Even after we got off the scooters we were still vibrating. So we came back and rested went up on the roof and had our Miles, Malbec, Cohibas and drank in the last rays of an amazing two weeks. I still have two days here all by my lonesome so I have to find a way to occupy myself. I think that I am going to do a little more shopping and perhaps take a four-wheeler tour out to the lake! For now there is a book that awaits me and a city that invites me to enjoy it's splendors. Until tomorrow friends!

Day 11
Well as promised here is the big reveal of what we did yesterday. With some of our friends that we have met here along the way we decided to load up and go to a hot springs that is nearby. So it was me Clayton our two Mexican Friends, (Hector and Diego) and a German guy named Christoff. We got very lost on our way there and had to stop and ask for directions multiple times. Each time we would get a different answer for directions. Finally we got the same answer in a row and they turned out to be the correct thing. The place that we were looking for is called Escondido. which translates into the hideaway or the secret place. It was unlike any other natural springs that I have been to. Everything was just out in the open in large pools that you could swim around in. Then a little farther down the path there was this small rounded structure where the steam baths were. Now there are four baths in total and each one is a little hotter than the next. The last one was particularly hot and was in a domed structure. Now the curved roof combined with the water makes for an absolutely amazing acoustical experience. You just can't help but sing songs while you are in there cause it just sounds so cool. It made for an unbelievable day. Needless to say we were both pretty wiped out after that so we came back napped. Rested up and then out on the town we went. Mama Mia had a really great band that we went and listened to. Then on my walk home last night I took some pictures that I will include as well. Tomorrows post is also going to be a good one so keep an eye out. It is also claytons last night tonight. He will be leaving in the afternoon tomorrow. We have had an amazing run creating and living here in San Miguel. It is not going to be the same without him. So the next couple of days I am going to be posting with just my solo adventures. For now however enjoy the pics and I'll be posting again soon!

Day 10
Well a pretty uneventful day yesterday. Spent some time walking around the city and discovering new things. I found what is called a pocket theater that shows small indie movies every night at 7:30. Also found a very cool cigar shop. That's right kiddos cubans cubans galore. it is going to be our little victory dance for clayton and I to have a nice meal and then a nice cigar. we are basically finished and we are having the script printed up for a hard copy. There is something about holding all of those pages that you have written that feels very rewarding. Tomorrows post is going to be really fantastic. We did something today that was just incredible. It was one of the more amazing things that I have experienced with my stay here in San Miguel. Not too many pictures to post today. There was a movie that was shooting that we passed and I found a really cool wishing well. I might try and throw something from the past couple of days as well. Until next time!

Day 9
So last night was just one of those magical nights that happen when you are somewhere that you know you are just never going to forget. Clayton and I actually cooked dinner for ourselves last night. A lovely but simple dish of fish and rice. Then we decided to go see what was going on down the hill. After wondering around for a bit I suddenly began to hear the refrain from a particular Jazz song that I knew. It was Janine by Manhattan Transfer. It took a minute but were finally able to locate the source. Tucked into a somewhat random building call the Plaza de Colonial there I found the source of my curiosity. I was not however prepared for the treat that awaited me. Inside was none other than Richie Cole. Now if you don't know who Richie Cole is check out richiecole.com and that will get you updated. Not only that but the people that he had playing with him were unbelievable. Credits for the Band include; Santana, the Greatful Dead, Janis Joplin, Count Basie, Van Morrison, Chic Correa, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn and the list goes on. Even locals that we talked to said this type of lineup never happens. Needless to say it was an incredible show. Then last night after we leave and walked to meet some friends the town square was teeming with people. Music laughter and cheers permeated the air in a kind of communal euphoria. Oh and I almost forgot. We were treated to one of the most beautiful sunsets that I have ever seen. The picture is unfortunately not going to do it justice but perhaps it will give you a glimpse. Tomorrow we are going to a hot springs with some friends. One thing that I did find out for all the ladies reading. Johnny Depp apparently has a house here. Once Upon a Time in Mexico was filmed here and he loved it so much he bought a house. The play is almost finished. Just a little more editing and a couple of more pases and the first draft will be done. It's hard to believe that it has gone this fast! I felt inspired to write a poem so I have included that as well today. With that I will leave you. Until next time. Thanks so much for reading!
San Miguel
How is it that I find myself here?
a soft soul shuffling its way through these narrow streets.
i am lead by a memory of a song once sung
winding it's way past wooden doors and concrete walls
here there is a voice and a rhythm not unlike my own
filtered through the dust of five hundred years
worn but still heaving it's chest inward then back again
the bells of the parroquia call out to me
the heartbeat of the hills echoed back upon itself
come and let the cool night air embrace you, it says
come down to me and touch my face
come and stand with eyes closed and arms outstretched
fingers splayed.
hear the laughter of my people
the song of my past and
the fragrance of my land
here you can be heard by being silent
found by being lost
and healed by letting go.
